Burning the midnight oil

As I sit here in the sit here in the main dining hall of the lodge at RockRidge Canyon, a couple of things occur to me.  One, the people I just watched whizzing past the windows of this beautiful room on the zip line look like they’re having a ton of fun!  Two, the view out the window is stunning, with cedar-covered hills rising up from a gorgeous mountain lake.  The kind of view this prairie boy doesn’t get every day of the week.  Three, the talented artists, the top-notch faculty and crew, and world-class presenters have all come together in this amazing setting to create a moment that will continue to make an impact on our lives for years to come.  Truly, this is not the kind of opportunity that comes around every day for artists on the rise, so I’m taking some time out from our busy schedule to soak it all in.

The first few days at boot camp have been a whirlwind.  We’ve had tightly contested hockey games(artists for the win!), and the aforementioned zip lining, nestled between informative work sessions with a variety of inspiring guest speakers, and late night recording sessions for our co-writing projects.  The staff has provided an inviting atmosphere conducive to creating and learning, and let’s face it, eating some great meals!  Though I’ve been looking forward to being here since the top twelve announcement was made, it was hard to imagine what it would be like until we arrived and got started.  I’ve been incredibly fortunate to be joined here by my bandmates, who all gave up their time to come on this journey with me, and I couldn’t be happier to share this time and the stage with these gentlemen.

As I look forward to the rest of our stay here, I’m excited to have one-on-one sessions with a vocal/performance coach, stylist, producers, and other industry pros to help us raise our game, so we can bring our best performance to you, because in the end that’s what it’s all about!

Thank you to our fans and supporters, we love you and stay tuned!
